Asatru Folk Assembly’s grundstandpunkter har i mange år været under anklage for at være funderet i racetænkning og racisme, men det har igen og igen været benægtet af forskellige medlemmer, eksempelvis i artiklen ”AFA interview til Vølse 65 (juni 2013)” af AFA medlem Søren Fisker (artiklen er tydeligvis et afstemt mikrofonholderinterview med AFA medlemmet Lars Irenessøn). Her benægtes det igen at AFA skulle være raceorienteret. Ja, det hævdes at race slet ikke betyder noget. AFA har en såkaldt Declaration of Purpose, og det har normalt været det andet afsnit i denne deklaration der har tiltrukket sig negativ opmærksomhed, og som det har været vanskeligt at bortforklare når der blev stillet kritiske spørgsmål om AFA’s racetænkning. AFA er åbenbart blevet træt af denne debat og medfølgende misforståelser, og man har valgt at ændre i artikel 2. Artikel 2 i Declaration of Purpose er blevet omdøbt fra “The preservation of the Peoples of the North (typified by the Germanic, Celtic, and Slavic peoples), and the furtherance of their continued evolution” til nu at hedde “The preservation of the Ethnic European Folk and their continued evolution”. Så det er bortfaldet, at man henviser til det ”nordiske folk” og man undlader henvisningen til germanere, keltere og slaver. Nu hedder det bare etnisk europæiske folk. Og hvordan defineres dette så i afsnittet? Det præciseres nu i afsnittet at: ”Let us be clear: by Ethnic European Folk we mean white people”. Og det med racegrundlaget præciseres, så der ikke længere er nogen tvivl om det heller: ”All native religions spring from the unique collective soul of a particular race.” Asatro er altså for mennesker der tilhører den ”hvide race” og AFA ønsker at gøre det klart. Og der er god grund til at de ønsker, at få eventuelle misforståelser ryddet af vejen, for netop deres opfattelse af asatro som racerelateret er fuldstændigt afgørende for AFA, hvilket uddybes sidst i afsnit 2: “Therefore, the survival and welfare of the Ethnic European Folk as a cultural and biological group is a religious imperative for the AFA.” Og det menes alvorligt, for hvis den hvide race forsvinder, kan asatroen ikke længere eksistere jf. første sætning i afsnit 2: ”If the Ethnic European Folk cease to exist Asatru would likewise no longer exist.” Og det med at den hvide race kunne forsvinde skal også forstås som at den hvide race udvandes (i form af raceblanding), som det fremgår af afsnit 5: ”The AFA supports the efforts of all cultural and biological groups to maintain their identity…” Dette ligger i forlængelse af AFA’s pseudo-videnskabelige racelære kaldet metagenetik som bl.a. optræder i afsnit 2 som følgende: ”body, mind and spirit are all shaped by the evolutionary history of the group and are thus interrelated.”

If the Ethnic European Folk cease to exist Asatru would likewise no longer exist. Let us be clear: by Ethnic European Folk we mean white people. It is our collective will that we not only survive, but thrive, and continue our evolution in the direction of the Infinite. All native religions spring from the unique collective soul of a particular race. Religions are not arbitrary or accidental; body, mind and spirit are all shaped by the evolutionary history of the group and are thus interrelated. Asatru is not just what we believe, it is what we are. Therefore, the survival and welfare of the Ethnic European Folk as a cultural and biological group is a religious imperative for the AFA.
Afsnit 5 I sin helhed:
The promotion of true diversity among the peoples and cultures of the Earth:
The world is not one uniform, unvarying mass. All peoples are, and by right ought to be, distinct and unique. Each and every culture should relish those differences and be free to work out their own destinies. Only in our uniqueness can our respective Gods fully manifest. The AFA supports the efforts of all cultural and biological groups to maintain their identity and opposes the cultural marxists who would reduce all of humanity to an indistinguishable gray mass.

Det er også sigende hvad der er blevet taget ud af Declaration of Purpose. Tidligere stod der i afsnit 2 at: ”The belief that spirituality and ancestral heritage are related has nothing to do with notions of superiority. Asatru is not an excuse to look down on, much less to hate, members of any other race.” Dette er altså klippet ud nu, logisk nok da det også gav anledning til tvetydighed omkring AFA’s brug af en racelære.
Og det handler ikke bare om race, men også om seksualitet. AFA fremhæver i afsnit 4 at: “Asatru encourages sound, traditional families while providing an extended family or tribe to support the basic family unit.” Dette med traditionelle familier kan måske stadigvæk fremstå lidt tvetydigt, men det betyder altså at homoseksuelle, biseksuelle mfl. ikke er velkomne i AFA på linje med folk af andet etnisk ophav.
Jeg kan godt se at denne mangel på tvetydighed omkring racegrundlaget i AFA nok kan være ubekvemt at håndtere for de AFA medlemmer, der netop fortrækker at race-delen ikke er for åbenlys, men den tid er så altså forbi nu.
AFA’s Declaration of Purpose står tydeligvis ikke det mindste tilbage for antimonoteismens begrebsafklaringer i kapløbet om at være asatroens fortrukne fundament for intolerance og had.
