Black Metal for the Elderly

So me and my friend – blood-brother and fellow follower in my despair – payed 666Dkr. for a ticket to a Danish metal festival. We had tried to get the ticket for our soul, but they meant that it was long lost. We went to the youth house in Fredericia. We didn’t know what to expect. We aren’t teens any more. But we didn’t expect, that most of the audience was above 40 and some over 60. But what a great party! Lots of beer, just beer – not like drugs you take to techno parties which makes a fucked up atmosphere – this was the most evil darkest of underground metal. Great atmosphere, lots of strange people – who you definitely, don’t see any where normal place. There had come people from all over the world to this place on the border between world and the cold North. Lots of girls, who looked like that half of the party has screwed them and they waited to the other half should screw them. I met two +70 guys, with Mayhem “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” t-shirts and Taake cowboy west. Beautiful to see someone with one food in the grave still hold on to the nihilistic world views. As Voltaire said on his deathbed in response to a priest asking him that he renounce Satan: “Now, now my good man, this is no time to be making enemies.”

Come join us next year – we got cookies (and cheap beers). metal-magic.dk

On 6 June 1992, the Fantoft stave church, dating from the 12th century and considered architecturally significant, was burned to the ground in an arson. By January 1993, arson attacks had occurred on at least seven other major stave churches, including one on Christmas Eve of 1992. Vikernes was found guilty of several of these cases: the arson and attempted arson of Åsane Church and Storetveit Church, respectively, in Bergen, the arson of Skjold Church in Vindafjord, and the arson of Holmenkollen Chapel in Oslo.

[…] On August 10, 1993, Vikernes and Snorre Ruch traveled from Bergen to Aarseth’s apartment in Oslo. Upon their arrival a confrontation began, which ended when Vikernes fatally stabbed Aarseth. His body was found outside the apartment with twenty-three cut wounds – two to the head, five to the neck, and sixteen to the back.
